Neil Armstrong was an American explorer and astronaut and the very first person to walk on the Moon.

Neil Alden Armstrong was born on August 5th in 1930 near Wapakoneta, Ohio. He grew up with his parents and two siblings. Already in his early childhood, he developed a big interest in airplanes. Armstrong first flew in an airplane when he was only six years old and that flight made him love airplanes. He took flying lessons and earned his flight certificate at the age of 15, even before he got his driver's license. In 1947, at age 17, Armstrong began studying aeronautical engineering at Purdue University. His studies however were interrupt only two years later when he was called by the Navy to serve in the Korean War. Armstrong flew 78 combat missions before he left the service in 1952 and again returned to college. A few years later, Armstrong joined the National l Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). While working for NASA as a test pilot, he flew over 2400 hours in over 200 different types of aircrafts including 7 flights in the fastest aircraft ever built. On July 20th 1969 mission commander Neil Armstrong landed the Apollo 11 and became the first person to set foot on the moon. He took the first step and said: 'That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.' Soon after his voyage to the moon Armstrong left NASA and joined the faculty of the University of Cincinnati as a professor of aerospace engineering. Armstrong passed away on August 25, 2012. Neil Armstrong embodies a revolutionary accomplishment for the humanity and surely isn`t ever going to be forgotten. After people had looked up for thousands of years he was the first person to ever make a footprint to another place than earth.
