Michelangelo is considered to be one of the greatest artists of the Italian Renaissance, arguably of all time.
Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni (or Michelangelo for short), was born in Caprese, Italy on March 6, 1475. He was a sculptor, painter, architect, poet, and engineer during the High Renaissance. Despite being born in Caprese, he spent most of his life living in Rome. The vibrant and artistic surroundings of Rome during the Renaissance helped Michelangelo explore his talents. Some of his works include "David" and "Pieta." He also painted the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in Rome. The painting is called "The Last Judgement." Before he started his own artistic career, he was apprenticed to a painter named Domenico Ghirlandaio. Michelangelo is considered to be one of the greatest artists of the Italian Renaissance, arguably of all time. In fact, during the renaissance, he received commissions from popes and other powerful people in the church, some of the wealthiest people of the time. He died February 18, 1564.
