Quotations"I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear." - Nelson Mandela
The man who campaigned for equality and changed a nation for the better.
Nelson Mandela was a political activist in South Africa. He fought for equal rights of all races and was the first colored president of the nation.
Nelson Mandela was born in the village of Mvezo in 1918 into a racist and unequal world. He then grew up to campaign for the equal rights of people, no matter what race, and rose through the ranks of the ANC (African National Congress). It was during this time that Mandela began to be more active in politics, and was seen as a threat and was targeted by the government for speaking out. Around 1964, he was imprisoned for over 20 years for being a political activist, and in 1994 was elected president, democratically, of South Africa. He died on December 5th, 2013.
