"The scientific man does not aim at an immediate result. He does not expect that his advanced ideas will be readily taken up. His work is like that of the planter for the future. His duty is to lay the foundation for those who are to come, and point the way. He lives and labors and hopes." -

The inventor of of alternating current

Nikola Tesla was a great inventor and mind in the world of electricity. He made possible the Tesla Coil, radio, and alternating current.

Nikola Tesla was born in 1856. He went to college and began working with electricity prior to his immigration to the United States in 1884. After his arrival in New York, he began working for Thomas Edison as an engineer. He eventually quit his job with Edison to pursue his own interests with alternating current (AC). He spent several years working with AC and electricity, partnering with famous businessmen like George Westinghouse and J. P. Morgan, creating the Tesla Coil, developing a working AC system, and working with the radio. He also designed and made many inventions which never made it to widespread use. He died on January 7th, 1943. After his death, he was awarded the patent for the radio after it was taken from the previous owner. Why? He invented many of the parts in it, namely the Tesla Coil. Without his inventions, the world around us would be very different. We wouldn't have things like the radio, and the electricity that powers are home wouldn't be the same.

    Life in Nikola Tesla's world

Tesla lived in a time when there was a lot of experiments and discoveries going on with electricity and new forms of communication. Also during his lifetime, the battle of the currents raged, of which he was a major fighter in.

    Was Nikola Tesla a Hero?

    • Wouldn't have alternating current without him
    • Wireless technology, namely radios, wouldn't be as good or be non-existent without the Tesla Coil.
