Frederick Douglass was born into slavery, who taught other slaves how to read and write, he escaped from slavery and ran a church.
Frederick Douglas was a great man and hero in his time. He was born into slavery at around February 1818. When he was just 10 years old his mother, who was not always there, died. In addition, he was sent to Baltimore home of Hugh Auld. At the age of 12, Hugh Auld's wife taught him the alphabet which he then learned how to read, and taught other slaves as he got older and more wiser.
