The woman who ruled Egypt

Cleopatra's brother banished her from the throne, she later dethroned him, at age 21 and became the ruler of Egypt only to kill herself with the poison of a snake at age 39.

Cleopatra was born in 69 B.C. Her brother and her began to rule Egypt when she turned 18, but she soon fled to Syria to build an army to dethrone her brother and claim the title of Pharaoh of Egypt to herself. Cleopatra and Julius Caesar soon met and fell in love having a son named Caesarion. Cleopatra followed Julius Caesar back to Rome but returned to Egypt after he was assassinated. She later met another man, Antony who also fell in love with her. She had twins with him and named them Cleopatra and Alexander. In 31 B.C Cleopatra and Antony combined armies in attempt to defeat a descedent of Julius Caesar. Octivian. They failed. Someone then told Antony falsely that Cleopatra had died. In depression Antony killed himself. Cleopatra then learned Antony had died and killed herself by letting a poisonous snake bite her in 30 B.C. After Cleopatra died the rein of Pharaohs in Egypt ended.

Life in Cleopatra's world

Women were still considered less capable than men at this time. It was hard for woman to get jobs that men would have, like ruling Egypt for example. Cleopatra was amazing because when her brother stole the throne she stole it back by creating and army and dethroning her brother, a very hard thing to do, especially as a woman.
