The woman who overcame being blind and deaf to become a great public speaker

After becoming seriously ill as a child, Helen Keller became deaf, blind and mute. Eventually she learned to speak again, and became an amazing and influential public speaker.

Helen Keller fell seriously ill at the young age of 2, and became deaf, mute and blind. Her mother and father hired Anne Sullivan to help her daughter learn to communicate again. Anne achieved what people then thought was impossible, she taught Helen to speak and communicate again. Helen learned to understand what people were saying by holding her hands to their lips while they talked. She also learned to use sign language a similar way, bu feeling peoples hands as they signed. After much determination, she graduated from Radcliffe College with honors in 1904. She was the first deaf and blind person to graduate. Throughout her life, Helen wrote 12 books, and was in influential speaker all over the world. Toward the end of her life, she also received the Presidential Medal of Honor. Anne Sullivan was a close friend until Helen's death in 1968. Helen Keller was a hero to many people all over the world. She taught people that you cant let things get in the way of your life.
