The man who invented the first motorvehicle
Karl Benz was the first person to invent the automotive vehicle (the Benz patent Motorwagen). His design inspired U.S. upstarters like Ford (creator of Ford).
Karl Benz was born in Karlsruhe, Germany in 1844. He was raised by his mother after his father was killed in a train wreck. The family was poor, but education was very important. Benz was really smart and graduated University of Karlsruhe at the age of fifteen. He had gotten a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Bikes were popular in the 1860's and Benz was an active rider and fantasized of a motorized vehicle. By 1885 he had put together the Benz Patent Motorwagen. In 1888 Bertha (Benz's wife) drove sixty-six miles from Mannheim to Pforzheim in the motorwagen, automatically making it an interest of many people. During the 1889 Paris World Fair, Benz unveiled the model three motorwagen. Later Benz joins forces with the inventor of the Mercedes engine (Daimler). Benz later died in 1929.
