Stopped a school massacre

On August 20th 2013 an armed gunman broke into the nursery where Antoinette Tuff was working. Nobody was killed or physically hurt that day due to her actions.

Antoinette Tuff worked in Mcnair Learning Discovery School in Washington as a book keeper. Her son was disabled and a few years before she saved many lives Antoinette was considering ending her life. This was because her husband had left her and she was struggling to bring up her disabled son on her own. On the day the gunman broke into the school, Antoinette was working in the office, which is when the armed man (carrying an AK47)went to first.

Whilst everyone was evacuating, Antoinette kept calm and spoke to the 20 year old gunman, managing to persuade him to drop everything and not harm anyone. He said that he was going to end his life and kill everybody. At this point Antoinette explained that she had felt the same way. He was arrested at the end of the incident, and nobody was hurt, thanks to Antoinette. She said that God had helped and prepared her for that day, and that she does not think of herself as a hero. I think she had so much courage that she is definitely a hero.
