History's HEROES?

Teachers' section

Curriculum links to Religious Education

Many of the heroes included in this site were deeply religious, and their beliefs profoundly influenced their actions (Anne Askew, Oliver Cromwell, Elizabeth Fry, Edith Cavell).

Others  were not notably religious themselves, at least in the normal sense of the word, but their religious family backgrounds may well have influenced them (Thomas Paine, Harriet Martineau, Inayat Noor Khan).

Use the "Heroes?" section of the site to investigate those heroes who illustrate the direct or indirect influence of religion in their lives and achievements. Use this to reflect on the nature and content of religious belief, and the impact it has on individuals and society.
