Great Campaigners

Great Campaigners

This teaching unit can be used in KS 3 History, Citizenship and/or RE.

Why use this unit?

If you want to look at some great citizenship or RE role models, this unit offers them on a plate! And if you want to show that change in history is often down to individuals struggling to achieve certain goals, this is the unit for you.

What does this unit do?

Citizenship encourages pupils to take an interest in topical and controversial issues and to engage in discussion and debate. This unit helps to do this by looking at role models in history, people who campaigned hard for different causes.

Since all these individuals were directly or indirectly influenced by religion, the unit encourages pupils to think about the role of religion in society.

Finally, the unit could form a special unit within the KS3 programme of study on British history, for the period of great change in the early and mid-19th century.
