This site contains a huge amount of information about certain people - "heroes" - in history: not just about their lives and achievements, but also about their backgrounds and the times in which they lived. The teaching ideas in this section encourage pupils to explore this information in a focussed and purposeful way. They help them look at the material critically and thoughtfully. The Ideas also guide them to ponder some important questions about values and motives, in relation to both the historical figures and, more profoundly, to themselves.
