The family left Russia just before the Revolution, moving to Bloomsbury, London, where Noor went to kindergarten. Her two brothers, Vilayat and Hidayat, and sister Claire were born in the next four years. The family moved to Suresnes, near Paris in 1920, to a house given to her father by a Sufi benefactor. The children were brought up in a house of music and love. The teachings of their father and his Sufi followers greatly influenced the gentle Noor and her siblings.
