The eldest of four children, Noor was born at the Kremlin in Moscow (whilst her parents were guests of the Royal Family). Her father, Hazrat Inayat Khan, a musician and teacher of Sufism, was descended from a princely Indian Muslim family. Her mother, Ora Meena Ray Baker, was a blonde American from New Mexico.
